With the continuous development of automobile industry, the noise problem of automobile transmission has been paid more and more attention. Among them, the transmission belt noise is one of the common problems.
Modern timing belts are constructed of rubber, synthetic rubbers like neoprene, polyurethane, or highly saturated nitrile, with high-tensile strength reinforcing cords made of Kevlar, polyester, or fibreglass.
Most U.S. aftermarket manufacturers use an English measurement system, where the length is expressed in tenths of an inch, but the worldwide industry standard is based on a metric measurement. This metric numbering is sometimes referred to as a “PK” number, and is found on most belts along with the manufacturer’s traditional part number.
